I picked up a Treo smart phone recently and decided to hunt for some much needed software. I ran across a program called 1 Button Pro by Evans Software. It claimed to let you launch programs with one button which is handy when trying to launch your programs with one hand.

1 Button Pro allows you to program one of your Palm buttons to open a folder of your favorite apps. You simply assign a button in the 1 Button Pro setup, and then choose the applications that you want to be in the folder. Then, when you press the assigned button the folder with your favorite applications is opened. You keep pressing the same button until you get to the application you want, and then wait just second and the application is launched. On my Treo I have the ability to launch the main applications screen with one button and then move around the screen with the 5-way directional buttons, but 1 Button Pro allows me to do all of this by pressing one button only. 1 Button Pro allows you to launch your favorite applications without pulling out the stylus. It works like a charm and is in fact quite handy.

There are several options with 1 Button Pro. First of all, you can have more than one favorite apps folder. You can program the four launch buttons to open different applications. You can also choose a background for your favorite apps folder. I choose to leave mine with a white background, but it is slick to have a background in there sometimes.

Applications in your favorites folder can be ordered in a fixed position or by the most recently used -- you decide. You can also decide how long you want the program to wait before launching the application once you highlight the icon. If you want it to launch 1 second after you highlight the icon you can do that. Or, if you want it to wait half a second you can do that too. Many options are available.

You can also decide where the icons will appear on the screen. If you want the icons to appear only on the right of the screen, or only on the left of the screen you have that option. Frankly, I just program about 5 apps in my favorites folder and they appear in order. I have access to my favorite apps with the press of one button, and it's incredibly fast.

1 Button Pro sells for $20 and you can pick up a copy right here at pdaBlast! Evans Software also sells a standard launcher version for $10 so check the links below for more information.

1 Button Pro is a fantastic program that will reside on my Treo 600 for a long time. It gives me total control over my launcher buttons and allows me quick access to all of my apps. Great job!
